In the framework of the 77th anniversary of Indonesia’s independence, the University of Indonesia (UI) carried out more than 300 community service programs implemented in several areas such as; DKI Jakarta; Depok; Bogor Regency, and Kec. Tenjolaya; Buleleng, Bali; Pandeglang, Banten; the Thousand Islands; Bekasi, Bungin Village; Sumedang; Banyuwangi, East Java; East Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara; West Manggarai, East Nusa Tenggara; and North Minahasa, Kec. Likupang. The Doctoral Program in Biomedical Sciences – Faculty of Medicine, University of Indonesia (PDIB – FKUI) also contributes through community service programs by carrying out health education on blood disorders, blood group, and HB examinations, as well as providing free doctor consultations in Labuan Bajo, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT). ).

The community service program implemented by PDIB – FKUI is designed in line with the SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) and aims to give more to the Labuan Bajo community, especially pregnant women and young women about blood disorders in the hope of improving the quality of life. life and health of the people of Labuan Bajo, NTT. The people who were present took advantage of this moment to get counseling about blood disorders but also took the time to get to know doctors who were also lecturers from PDIB – FKUI and did blood and HB checks by PDIB lecturers and students.

“This activity is not only fun but also provides new knowledge, especially about blood diseases such as thalassemia which we just heard about, getting explanations about blood types, checking HB and also being able to consult with doctors,” said Mrs. Maria, one of the pregnant women who was a participant.

We hope this activity can provide significant benefits and can continue and improve, so that the quality of life and health of the people of Labuan Bajo, East Nusa Tenggara can be achieved.
