Jakarta, Indonesia – Doctoral Program in Biomedical Sciences, Faculty of Medicine, University of Indonesia (PDIB – FKUI) has successfully carried out Community Service (PKM) activities on August 10 2023 at SMKN 2 Lingsar, West Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara. This activity that focuses on health education carries the theme “Health Counseling on Blood Disorders and Stunting,” to provide understanding about blood, blood disorders, blood transfusions, and stunting to the people of West Lombok, especially pregnant women and young women.
As many as 50 pregnant women from around the area of SMKN 2 Lingsar and 50 young women from the same school participated in this activity. The event was inaugurated by the Chair of the Study Program and Coordinator of PKM PDIB – FKUI Activities, Prof. Dr. rer. nat. Asmarinah, MS, and attended by Expert Staff of West Lombok Regent, Secretary of Lingsar sub-district, and Head of West Lombok Health Center Apt. Arief Kurniawan, S.Si., MPH.
In addition to counseling about blood disorders and stunting, which dr. Andi Khomeini Takdir, Sp.PD-K-PSi gave, Prof. Dr. dr. Erni Hernawati Purwaningsih, M.S, who is also a member of the Lecturer Team involved in this PKM, provided knowledge about the benefits of Moringa Leaves and Telang Flowers, which are daily consumed by the local community. After the counseling session, the activity continued with measuring blood pressure, checking blood type and hemoglobin levels, discussions, and doctor’s consultation services provided by the Lecturer and Student Team from PDIB – FKUI.
“The knowledge we get from this activity is invaluable because we can add insight into health. We hope that similar activities can be held again next year,” said Mrs. Nitasari, one of the pregnant women who participated in the PDIB PKM.
“Today we learned many important things related to blood type, and we also got blood checks and in-depth explanations about the health of pregnant women,” said Hanifa Putri and Nurul Azizah, students of SMKN 2 Lingsar who took part in this activity.
PDIB FKUI hopes that through this activity, people can increase awareness and be proactive in maintaining their health, as well as adopting a healthy diet to avoid the risk of stunting.
