Saturday, October 7, 2023, one of the home base lecturers of the Biomedical Sciences Doctoral Program – Faculty of Medicine, University of Indonesia (Prof. Dr. Melva Louisa, S.Sc., M.Biomed) was confirmed as a Permanent Professor at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Indonesia. Prof. Dr. Melva Louisa, S.Sc., M.Biomed or more often called Prof. Melva delivered a scientific oration entitled “Translational Pharmacology in the Development of New Drugs: Its Role and Utilization in Realizing National Drug Independence”. In his speech, Prof. Melva conveyed the importance of drug independence in ensuring the availability and accessibility of drugs for the people of a country. Prof. Melva said “Translational pharmacology in the development of new drugs in Indonesia is not the only key factor in realizing drug independence. Multi-stakeholder cooperation in drug development is essential, collaboration with the committed, open, and integrated model will hopefully be one of the solutions to accelerate the development of drugs with good efficacy and safety for patients.
Prof. Melva also conveyed the importance of perseverance to continue learning throughout life, developing one’s potential, increasing productivity, and collaboration for young teaching staff and all students at FKUI.
